Trash Talking

This will be a very sad year for the professors.
The students have new talent this year, and are prepared to do whatever it takes to avoid the humiliation of last year. Furthermore, it would seem as if the Professors have lost one of their top-notch players: Ralph Pollock. Over the course of the next several months, fear will begin to set in, followed by desperation, and finally we'll hear stories of our supposed role-models breaking into hysterical fits of crying during lectures.
Yes, a sad year for the profs.

Club Rush Week

Hey everyone,
Club rush week begins on the 8th and runs until the 12th. We will have a booth set up every day from around 8am until 4pm. We have to get re-ratified, so please come down (even if you were a member last year) and sign up.
Also, there are only going to be a couple of us manning the booths, so please feel free (regardless of who you are) to have a seat behind the table if nobody is around and spark some interest.
Finally, we cannot have a club without a treasurer. It is only a name, and you will not have to do anything (unless you'd actually like to). It would look great on your CV.

Cheers,
Thomas

Summer season

Welcome to the Chess Club blog, where we can post news, messages and insults. So here  goes: Since the professors are busy with research, and the students have nothing better to do all summer long except drink beer and play chess, we shall expect to see a great improvement in the performance of our young rivals when September rolls around. And we can hope for more exciting play -- daring gambits rather than boring fianchettoes. I live in hope.
